The Basics
Matter Templates are a way to prebuild matters so you have your tasks, milestones, pins and documents ready to go as soon as you are.
With Lupl's inbuilt template creation tool, creating Matter Templates for every occasion is a straightforward and intuitive process.
Only your designated template admin can create, edit and delete templates. If you haven't assigned a template admin, please contact the Support Team to get one set up.
Any Matter Templates you create will only be accessible to members of your organization. If you've created a Matter Template that you think is so good it needs to be shared with the world and available to anyone using Lupl, get in touch with the Success Team to find out more!
Quick Start
- Click Templates to open the Matter Template library.
- Click Create New Template (in the top right).
- Enter the mandatory template information (name, author e.t.c.).
- Add your tasks.
- Add your milestones.
- Add your pins.
- Add your documents.
- Click Create Template.
Details
Creating a new Matter Template
- Click Templates to open the Matter Template library.
- Click Create New Template (in the top right).
- Step 1: Provide the template information which includes:
- Template name.
- Matter Type.
- Jurisdiction.
- A short description that will appear under the template name (optional).
- A longer description that will appear when you preview the template (optional).
- A template logo and thumbnail (optional).
- Step 2: Add your tasks, the associated notes and their deadlines. Utilize the task lists to group together tasks (optional).
- Step 3: Add your milestones to track key dates and important events (optional).
- Step 4: Add your pins to easily reference useful information (optional).
- Step 5: Add any documents you might need for your matter (optional).
- Click Create Template.
Note: at the end of each step, click Next to move on to the next step.
Your new Matter Template is instantly ready for use!
Create a new matter using your Matter Template and give it a whirl. Better yet, invite other people from your organization to try it out and see if they have any feedback.
Editing an existing Matter Template
It's easy to make changes and updates to Matter Templates you've created.
- Click on the Matter Template you wish to edit.
- Click Edit Template (in the top right).
- Navigate the same steps above where you can add, remove or change any of the details and content provided. Hover the mouse over element, such as tasks or task lists, to bring up the Change or Remove options.
- When you're finished, navigate all the way to the final step and click Edit Template to save the changes.
Note: you can only edit Matter Templates that your organization has created.
Deleting a Matter Template
Got a Matter Template that doesn't see use any more and is cluttering up the place? Tidy up by removing it with just two clicks.
- Click on the Matter Template you wish to delete.
- Click Delete (in the top right).
- Confirm you wish to delete it by clicking Delete in the pop-up.
Note: Be careful! Deleting a Matter Template cannot be undone!

Tips and Tricks
- Be clear and concise with your task names, and add plenty of details everywhere else to ensure your Matter Templates provide as much guidance as possible.
- Tasks work best when they are actionable - where possible, ensure they start with a verb.
- Use clear thumbnails to identify frequently used templates at a glance.
