The Basics
Lupl streamlines the project management of your matter and raises awareness of progress with shared tasks and milestones. The platform keeps everyone working from the same checklist of core activity and puts the responsibility on each individual to deliver. Team members can create tasks, link documents, add notes and links, due dates and other details and assign them to relevant individuals. Make sure to combine Tasks with Milestones to get the most out what Lupl has to offer.
Before You Start
- Any team member can create a task on a matter.
- Tasks can be assigned to yourself and/or to other team members.

Details
Create a New Task
Any team member can create a Task on a matter. You can add a Task on the fly or save it to a Task List. You can assign up to 5 team members to each task. Tasks created by and assigned to you also surface in My Activity, to ensure you won't miss a thing!
- From the Task tab, click Add Task and a right-hand panel will slide onto the screen.
- From here you can:
- Enter the Task Name.
- Choose the Due Date.
- Add an assignee (up to 5 total).
- Option to choose a Task List or Create a New Task List.
- Add Notes.
- Link a Document or upload a new linked Document.
- When finished, Click Create Task.
Note: Tasks not added to a Task List can be found at the top of the Tasks tab.
Create a New Task (iOS)
There are two ways you can create a new Task. Directly within a Matter, or from anywhere else in the app!
Create a new Task from anywhere
- Tap the plus (+) icon in the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Tap Add Task.
- Enter the new Task name and Due Date.
- Select the relevant matter and Task List from the drop-down menus.
- Optional: assign Task and add Notes.
- Tap Save Task.
Create a new Task within a Matter
- Navigate to the Matter you wish to add a Task to.
- Tap on the Task&Mile. tab at the bottom of your screen.
- From the Task tab, tap Add New Task.
- Follow the same steps as above.
Create a Task List
Any team member can create a Task List on a matter. Drag and drop Task Lists to reorganize the work in an order that makes sense to you and your team.
- In your matter, click the Tasks tab in the Matter Toolkit.
- Click Add Task List.
- Enter the name of your new Task List in the box provided.
- Click Save.
Create a Task List (iOS)
- From the Task tab, tap Create Task List.
- Enter the Task List name.
- Add at least one Task to the list.
- Tap Submit.
Add Tasks to a Task List
Once you have created a Task List, you can begin to add tasks.
- Click on the Task List or simply hover the cursor over it.
- If there are existing tasks in the list, these will expand out.
- Click Add Task.
- Complete the Task Name and Due Date.
- Optional: assign Task, add a Note, link a Document.
- Click Save.

On iOS, there are two different ways to add a new task to your matter. You can assign up to 5 team members to each task. Tasks created and assigned by you also surface in My Activity, to ensure you won't miss a thing!
From anywhere in the app
You can add a task to a pre-existing Task List on one of your matters from anywhere in the app.
- Tap the plus (+) icon in the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Tap Add Task.
- Enter the new Task name and Due Date.
- Select the relevant matter and Task List from the drop-down menus.
- Optional: assign Task and add Notes.
- Tap Save Task.
Within your matter
- Navigate to your Matter.
- Tap on the Task&Mile. tab at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap on the relevant Task List.
- Add a new Task name in the box at the bottom of your screen. Tap Next.
- Select the due date. Tap Next.
- Optional: assign the Task.
- Tap Add.

Re-order your Task Lists
When you add a Task List, the new list will automatically appear at the top of the existing list of Task Lists. You can sort these very simply by dragging and dropping them.
- Click and hold the double 2 bar icon to the right of the Task List you wish to move.
- Drag the Task List to the appropriate position in the list.
- Release the Task List. It will drop into place.
Note: On iOS, tap and hold the Task List, then drag to re-order.
Rename a Task List
Need to make some changes to your Task List names? Easy peasy.
- Select the Task List that you wish to amend.
- Click on the 3 pin menu.
- Click Rename.
- Enter the new Task List name.
- Hit Save.

- In the Task&Mile. tab, tap the 3 pin menu to the right of the Task List you wish to amend.
- Tap Rename.
- Enter the new Task List name.
- Tap Save.
Edit or delete a Task
Goalposts have moved? New team member onboard to lend a hand? We know how quickly things can change on a matter. Follow the steps below to keep everything orderly and correct.
- Select the Task List containing the task you wish to amend.
- Click on the Task that you wish to change.
- You have 2 options:
- To edit a task, change the Task Name, Due Date, Assigned To, Task List, Notes fields and/or Linked Documents as required. Hit Save Changes.
- To delete a task, click Delete Task. A pop out will appear, confirming your action. Click Delete Task to remove this task from the Task List.
Edit or delete a Task (iOS)
Things can change in an instant - even when you're on the go! Follow the steps below to keep things on track, wherever you are.
- Tap on the Task&Mile. tab at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap on the relevant Task List.
- Tap on the Task you wish to edit or delete.
- You have 2 options:
- To edit a task, make the necessary changes and tap Save Task.
- To delete a task, select Delete Task (you may need to scroll down the page). A pop out will appear, confirming your action. Tap Confirm.
Benefits
- Shared task lists and milestones are a great help to individuals who are responsible for managing the progress and delivery of a matter.
- They provide accountability for key deliverables, drive the matter forwards and keep everyone on the matter abreast of the key dates and actions required to achieve success.
- When tasks are assigned to team members, Lupl does the hard work for you and notifies those individuals of their upcoming deadlines in advance. Learn more about notifications here.
Tips and Tricks
- Always assign all of the tasks on your matters. Without an assignee, there's no one for Lupl to notify about an upcoming due date and no one to take responsibility for carrying out the task.
- Be sure to include notes and deadlines in your tasks so that expectations are clear.
- In the Notes section for each task, you can add comments, tips and even URLs to support your colleagues in completing the task. The more information provided here, the better.
- Use Tasks to track specific action items required to move the matter forward.
