Before You Start
- Lupl connects to a single folder in SharePoint or OneDrive.
- Only you can choose how you arrange your matters and folders in SharePoint or OneDrive.
- Depending on this arrangement, it can be useful to create a new subfolder within your matter folder in SharePoint or OneDrive, clearly named 'EXT Lupl Shared Folder' or similar to ensure that you connect Lupl to the correct folder.
- Lupl users are not able to access any other folders within your SharePoint or OneDrive environment.
-
Any team member can upload documents directly to the folder from Lupl.
- When a new document is added directly to the connected SharePoint or OneDrive folder, it will also appear under Matter Documents in Lupl.
- Deleting documents from Lupl does not delete the documents from the SharePoint or OneDrive folder.
- This prevents Lupl users from deleting important documents in your SharePoint or OneDrive folder.
- If the bridge is still connected when the matter is closed, an archive of the Lupl matter is automatically downloaded to the SharePoint or OneDrive folder.

Connect your matter to a Sharepoint or OneDrive folder
Matter Owners and Matter Admins can connect a Lupl matter to SharePoint or OneDrive. Follow these simple steps to set this up.
- In your SharePoint or OneDrive Documents folder, create or identify the folder that will be connected to your Lupl matter.
- Note: clearly name this folder 'EXT Lupl Shared Folder' or similar to ensure that you connect Lupl to the correct folder. This will also ensure that internal users know that this folder may be shared with external users.
- In your matter, click on the Matter Documents tab in the Matter Toolkit and select Connect Storage.
- Select SharePoint or OneDrive.
- Select the location of your folder from the Storage dropdown. Then select the folder to be connected to your Lupl matter.
- Click Continue to complete set up.

Disconnect storage from your Lupl matter
You can disconnect storage in a few simple steps in order to remove storage or connect to another folder or system. This will not delete the documents from the source folder, it just removes the connection between Lupl and your document management system.

Benefits
- Connecting your SharePoint or OneDrive library allows you and all team members within a matter to view, edit, compare and upload relevant matter documents (and more!) without them ever leaving your document management system.
- This connection enables lawyers, clients and business professionals to share files cross-organization, using a single, secure folder that keeps all the important documents together in one place.
- When you close the matter, an archive zip file of all the information gathered on your matter (from channel conversations, to task lists and documents) will automatically upload to the connected SharePoint or OneDrive folder.
Tips and Tricks
- Matter Admins and Matter Owners are the only users who can connect or disconnect storage.
- Teams can connect one storage system per matter.
- You will only be allowed to connect to SharePoint sites and folders that you have permission to access by your organization.
