This article supports the Dashboards training video (below) and explains how Matter Dashboards help you track matter progress, surface key information, and quickly communicate status to stakeholders.
What Are Matter Dashboards?
Every Lupl matter includes Matter Dashboards that summarize activity across your Workstreams.
Dashboards let you:
View progress at a glance
Highlight upcoming deadlines and risks
Visualize workload or task distribution
Communicate updates internally or to clients
Export a clean, readable summary for reporting
Dashboards pull directly from your Workstreams, so your data is always current.
Getting Started With Dashboards
Lupl offers two ways to build dashboards:
Use pre-built dashboard templates.
These provide a quick starting point with common components already included.Create your own dashboard from scratch.
Click Add Dashboard to start with a blank canvas and build exactly what you need.
Either way, you can fully customize your dashboard to fit the matter.
Dashboard Components You Can Add
Dashboards are made up of flexible components. From the video, you’ll see examples such as:
Rich Text Blocks
Use these to add headings, introductions, or context for the viewer.
These are especially helpful when you plan to export the dashboard as a PDF or share it with a client.
Progress & Metrics Cards
Surface high-value signals such as:
% of tasks completed
Number of overdue items
Tasks due this week
Team workload distribution
These update automatically as your matter progresses.
Workstream Tables & Lists
Display filtered views of your Workstreams, such as:
All overdue tasks
All tasks assigned to a specific team member
All tasks in a particular section or Workstream
Tables can be sorted, filtered, and configured however you like.
Charts & Visualizations
Add simple visuals to help stakeholders understand progress without digging through task lists.
Design Tips from the Training Video
When building a dashboard, keep the final output in mind:
Start with a rich text header to frame what the viewer is looking at.
Group related information so the dashboard tells a clear story.
Use only the components you need – clean dashboards work best.
If you plan to export the dashboard, preview how it will look as a PDF.
Exporting Dashboards
Dashboards can be exported for clients, internal updates, or quick reporting.
Exports include:
Rich text headers and descriptions
Metric summaries
Tables and charts
Task progress views
This makes Dashboards a great tool for weekly status updates and project summaries.
Additionally, firms can white-label Matter Dashboard PDF exports with their logo when sharing with clients or external parties. Contact your Enterprise Admin for Lupl for more information.
Frequently Asked Questions

Can I control what data is shown?
Absolutely. You can filter tables, select which metrics to include, and choose exactly how the dashboard is structured.
